About the Book

Beyond his love for the Bible and his life as a businessman, Eric Kampmann is a hiker who has ascended innumerable mountains and walked countless trails. He has section hiked more than 1500 miles of the Appalachian Trail and hopes to complete all 2,174 miles in the next few years. To Eric, hiking is a great metaphor for the experience of living life well. For all of are on a journey and we need both physical strength and spiritual sustenance to meet the challenges along the way.

In Trail Thoughts, Eric leads us through the wisdom books of the Old Testament one day at a time, always pointing to a place called faith. Or as he says in his reflection for May 12:

“Life’s journey is more like a very bumpy road, filled with unexpected turns, strange dead ends and ambiguous intersections.”

Kampmann believes that if we choose to travel without the guiding hand of God, we are doomed to wrong turns and missed blessings. Jeremiah describes it this way:

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”
